Features
Everything here is in the app today — no roadmap items dressed up as features.
Grades as a real criterion
The current Canvas course score, exactly as posted — not a nine-point guess. It refreshes whenever you open the class, so you never group on last month’s numbers.
Traits you define
Use the built-in axes or write your own. Type 1–9 and the app advances to the next student; thirty kids takes about a minute.
Keep-together and keep-apart
The two constraints every teacher actually needs, honored by the engine and shown in red and green on the results, the way a seating chart would.
Re-roll and compare
Don’t like a run? Generate another with a new seed. Old runs stick around so you can go back to the one you liked.
A roster that maintains itself
Canvas is the authority on who is in your class. Students who drop off the roster keep their ratings, so re-enrolling brings everything back.
Simple mode
Just want groups off the grade? Simple mode hides everything else. Switch to Advanced the day you want more.
Five axes every teacher can rate
Plus subject packages you add in a click.
The five built-ins
- Writing skills — developing ↔ strong writer
- Boldness — meek ↔ bold
- Diligence — slacking ↔ diligent
- Disruptiveness — focused ↔ disruptive
- Leadership preference — prefers to follow ↔ prefers to lead
Writing is a built-in rather than an English-package trait because writing carries group work in every subject.
Five subject packages
- History / Social Studies
- Science / Chemistry
- Mathematics
- English / Writing
- World Languages
A package’s traits are ordinary custom traits once added — rename them, re-score them, delete them. A chemistry axis has no business sitting in an English teacher’s library, which is why none of this is pre-seeded.
Homogeneous or heterogeneous, per criterion
You decide whether each criterion should group similar students together or spread them across groups, and how much it weighs against the others. Teacher-entered scores outweigh student self-reported ones for the same trait.
Built for the class you actually teach.
Setup starts with your district’s Canvas developer key. We’ll walk you through what that involves.
